The Unbearable Lightness of Being (Nesnesitelná lehkost bytí) is a must see movie and sure a must read book of Milan Kundera. It is is a 1984 existential novel about the artistic, sexual and intellectual life of two men, two women – Tomaz, Tereza, Sabina, Franz and the adorable dog Karenin - and their lives in the Prague Spring (period of political liberalization in Czechoslovakia during the era of its domination by the Soviet Union after World War II). Although written in 1982, the novel was not published until two years later, in a French translation (as L'Insoutenable légèreté de l'être).
